Laboratory Introduction

“Laboratory of Fuzhou University Quantum Information and Quantum Optics”, relying on the construction of Fuzhou University, has become an important innovative research platform and talent training base in the field of quantum information and quantum optics in Fujian Province. Our laboratory aims at the key problems of science and technology in quantum computation, quantum communication, quantum simulation and entanglement manipulation of optomechanical systems, attracts the talent and condenses research powers, and develops research on the high-level knowledge innovation and technological innovation in the field of quantum information and quantum optics based on significant demands of Fujian Province and the Country. In recent years, strongly supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of science and technology, the Ministry of education, the Fujian Provincial Departments of education and the science and technology, and Fuzhou University, a series of innovative research findings have been obtained in the preparation and manipulation of quantum states based on cavity QED and ion trap systems under the leadership of Changjiang Scholar, Professor Shibiao Zheng, published more than 400 high-quality scientific research papers included by SCI, which are cited nearly 5000 times by others, and won more than 20 prizes of National Natural Science Second Award, China Youth Science and Technology Award, Fujian Science and Technology Award, etc. Our laboratory has constructed a research team, led by the Changjiang Scholar, the National Outstanding Youth and the New Century Millions of National Talent, and has laid a good foundation of the considerable development for the laboratory.

Organizational Structure

The laboratory has an academic committee, a research room for quantum computation, a research room for quantum communication, a research room for quantum simulation, a research room for entanglement manipulation in optomechanical systems, and an office for integrated management and foreign cooperation.

Research Team

Laboratory director: Professor Shibiao Zheng, Ph.D., doctoral tutor, as the Changjiang Scholar of the Ministry of education, the National Outstanding Youth Fund recipient, the State Council special allowance expert. He has long been engaged in both foundation and application basic researches of quantum information and quantum optics, and has achieved fruitful research findings. He has four theoretical proposals that have been experimentally demonstrated by the Haroche’s team and the Wineland’s team (These two persons are both winners of the Nobel prize in physics). He has published more than 200 papers all included by SCI (including 5 papers published by the top journal of Phys. Rev. Lett.), which are cited more than 3000 times by others, and one of the papers are cited more than 700 times by others, which is so far the paper most cited by others in the field of quantum optics and quantum information among all the papers taking domestic research institutions as the first signature institution, and has a broad impact in this field. His research findings have won the prizes of National Natural Science Second Award, China Youth Science and Technology Award, Fujian Science and Technology First Award, Fujian Science and Technology Second Award, etc. He has been awarded the honorary titles with the Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of education, the New Century Millions of National Talent, the Outstanding Teacher of the People of Fujian Province, the Millions of Leading Talents of Fujian Province, etc. As a leading person, he has taken the research charge of the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the 973 sub project, the Outstanding Youth Science Foundation of Fujian Province, etc.

Team Situation: The laboratory has fixed staff of 21 people, and the research team has one Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of education, one National Outstanding Youth Fund recipient, one New Century Millions of National Talent, one Outstanding Teacher of the People Award of Fujian Province recipient, one person of the Millions of Leading Talents of Fujian Province, one recipient of Outstanding Youth Science Fund of Fujian Provincial Department of the science and technology, one recipient of Outstanding Youth Science Fund of Fujian Provincial Department of education, one New Century Excellent Talent of Fujian Provincial Department of education, one Fujian Provincial Five-Four Youth Medal winner, one recipient of the Fujian Provincial Excellent Doctoral Dissertation First Award, one recipient of the Fujian Provincial Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Second Award; There are 5 people with senior title, 15 people with vice-senior title, 4 lecturers, 17 people with the doctor's degree. The laboratory has 5 doctoral students, 30 master students, and 2 postdoctoral fellows.
